Job Description: 
Under the direction of the Director of Education, the Classroom Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of every student; establishing effective rapport with students; motivating students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each student’s abilities; and establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members. At all times, the Teacher will cooperate with other staff to maintain the smooth functioning of the school, which may require changes to meet the needs of the students.

Schedule: 
Schedule hours during the regular academic year will be from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or as determined by the Director of Education. 

Essential Duties:
  1. Instruct students utilizing a course of study which meets stated objectives and goals.
  2. Instruct students in citizenship and leadership skills.
  3. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with the adopted course of study.
  4. Provide individualized and small group instruction that is adapted to meet the needs of each student.
  5. Translate lessons plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction and to actively engage the students. 
  6. Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
  7. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  8. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  9. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress.
  10. Cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing students’ needs.
  11. Create effective learning environments through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers.
  12. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
  13. Administer group standardized tests in accordance with school and state testing programs.
  14. Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  15. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities as required.
  16. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Education.

  3. Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision. 
  4. Demonstrate ability to use independent judgment and initiative to act without being asked. 
  5. Demonstrate effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with students, educational staff, parents and staff. 
  6. Respect the confidentiality of information regarding students and be discreet in dealing with parents and educational personnel. 
  7. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
