Effective immediately, the 21st Century Cyber Charter School is looking to fill a Long Term Substitute position for a School Counselor holding a valid PA education specialist certificate in school counseling. The 21st Century Cyber Charter School welcomes applications from qualified candidates, who are passionate about K-12 education and student success, to join our team at our West Chester school campus.
 
This is a full time, benefit-eligible, professional position which follows the established 10-month/195-day schedule and will work additional days during the Summer 2022 through early August 2022
 
Applicants will be expected to work with students in grades 6-12.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
 
The School Counselor is responsible for the development of a comprehensive school counseling program and will collaborate with others to meet student needs in the following areas: academic, career planning and personal-social development.
It is essential that incumbents in this position are able to be flexible to meet the asynchronous, online school environment and fulfill the occasional travel requirements of the position, as needed, which can include occasional overnight accommodation.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Will work under the direction of the Principal to determine student schedules, examine student transcripts to determine graduations requirements and process schedules.
  2. Work with the Special Education department and Guidance Team to answer scheduling related questions and process post-secondary applications.
  3. Handle all Crisis Intervention Issues, deals directly with Children and Youth Service Agencies when necessary and deals with Juvenile Probation Officers when necessary
  4. Teach Guidance Courses.
  5. Assist administration, teachers, parents, and students with truancy-related issues and participate in Attendance Improvement Plan development meetings.
  6. Lead or participate on the Student Assistance Team as requested.
  7. Coordinate, facilitate, or assist with standardized testing, including but not limited to Advanced Placement (AP), Keystone, SAT, ACT, and PSSA testing.
  8. Work with instructional staff regarding guidance issues.
  9. Attend IEP Meetings, as requested.
  10. Coordinate 504 Agreements with families and teachers as requested.
  11. Attend required professional development sessions and/or seminars.
  12. Communicate with parents/ guardians/ students.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education and Experience
    • Master’s Degree in Secondary Guidance
    • Educational Specialist certification level I or II
    • Experience using applications in a Macintosh environment desirable
    • Experience in a K-12 school preferred
  2. Professional or other required certifications
    • Acts 34, 151, 114 Clearances
 Salary will be commensurate with applicable experience, the annual salary will be prorated to reflect all days worked in the assignment.
