Bus Driver
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary responsibility of the Bus Driver is to operate a school bus to transport students between assigned pick-up locations and school or school-sponsored activities. Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner throughout the workday.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary Starting at $17.71/hr to $24.76/hr based on experience.
Terms of Employment:
Five, six, seven, or eight-hour days for the SSD school year.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary responsibility of the Bus Driver is to operate a school bus to transport students between assigned pick-up locations and school or school-sponsored activities. Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner throughout the workday.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport students by bus and or van-type vehicle to and from school and extra curricular activities in a safe and timely manner, obeying all traffic laws, schools district regulations and observing all mandatory safety regulations.
- Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections to check for cleanliness, safety equipment, proper mechanical functions and adequate fuel level.
- Conduct trip inspections after each run to check for sleeping children, vandalism, cleanliness and lost articles.
Education and Experience
- Vocational Preparation: (Experience)
- Must currently hold or qualify for a Class B Commercial Driver’s License, a School Bus
- Driver’s endorsement and passenger endorsement.
- Must currently hold or qualify for a Class B Commercial Driver’s License, a School Bus
- Driver’s endorsement and passenger endorsement.
- Regular attendance is required to provide consistent support of the department’s student transportation assignment.
- Currently hold or be able to qualify for a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class B,
- School Bus endorsement, and obtain a passenger endorsement to operate a bus and/or van-type vehicle (mobility).
- Read and understand route instructions (Reading Requirement).
- Secure student’s entering and exiting the vehicle (Dexterity).
- Assist students entering and exiting the vehicle (Dexterity).
- Clean assigned vehicle (Dexterity).
- Prepare written operation and maintenance reports (Writing Requirements).
- Operate a two-way radio or similar device (Communicating Requirements).
- Visually inspects vehicles for district and state transportation regulations (Sight
- Requirements).
- Observe students while entering, leaving, and riding on the bus for behavior management and safety (Sight Requirement).
- Exert 59 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally (33%), and/or
- Exert 25-50 lbs. frequently (33-66%), and/or
- Exert 10 to 20 lbs. of force to move objects
