Seeking energetic, positive individuals to help students with their academics, while also coaching them on improving their interpersonal skills and making sound choices! 

The CREC Polaris Center's Clinical Day Program, an alternative educational setting in East Hartford, is recruiting for full-time Associate Instructors to work with students in grades K - 12+. The school serves students with academic, emotional and behavioral challenges, who may also be dealing with mental health issues and difficulties at home or in the community.  A background in human services, sports, coaching, recreation, tutoring or other direct work with children and teens will serve you well! 
Associate Instructors provide direct (sometimes one-to-one) instructional support; supervise and track students throughout the day; engage in problem-solving and crisis intervention and may accompany small groups on field trips, to community service outings, to local job sites (as part of our "school to career" program). 
Position(s) follow school year calendar, Monday-Friday, 7:30am – 2:30pm. There may be the potential for summer employment as well.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required in related field, plus at least one year experience in an internship, student teaching or previous experience in a comparable setting.
Selected candidates will have a proven track record of successfully working with youth, assisting them with developing appropriate coping mechanisms and positive problem-solving strategies. Patience, effective communication and behavior management skills, flexibility, a sense of humor and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population will serve you well.
Must hold valid CT driver's license, a clean driving record (per DMV and insurable by CREC) and have the ability to obtain a CT Public Service License (PSL)within 60 days of hire, in order to continue employment.
