Job Description:
In the absence of the assigned Teacher, the Substitute is accountable for facilitating learning, academic achievement and personal development by providing instruction to students. 

Major Responsibilities:
  • Provides instruction. 
  • Encourages student progress.
  • Manages the learning environment in the absence of the full-time classroom teacher.
  • Maintains high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills interacting with students, teachers, administrators, and parents
  • Demonstrates facility in the skills of reading, writing and mathematics.
  • Effectively implements instructional plans and uses appropriate instructional techniques.
  • Establishes a positive learning environment.
  • Meets professional responsibilities.
  • A valid Connecticut teacher certificate preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated excellence in professionalism and classroom management.
  • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers and educational assistants.
  • Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion.
  • Superior communication skills (oral and written).
The daily rate of pay is $120.00/day for all levels (Pre K, Elementary, Middle or High School).  There are no benefits associated with this position.  This position is as needed.
